During the last decade, the soil and water quality «common concern» has attracted tremendous attention from the scientific and industrial communities. Overall, the current environmental issues are generally caused more by anthropogenic than natural phenomena. The strong economic growth worldwide has started to demonstrate negative impacts on the biotic and abiotic components which are known to generate pernicious effects on socio-economic development related to health status, soil/water/air pollution and ecological equilibrium. In fact, it is necessary to integrate environmental studies as early as possible in the design and development of any type of industrial projects (i.e. agriculture, manufacturing, mining, etc.). Consequently, in addition to climate change implications, many societal and environmental challenges arise, including water and soil degradation, water resources overexploitation, land use land cover change, etc.
SWECS will take place on 28-29th March, 2022 in Fkih Ben Saleh city in the center of Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, Morocco. The city is located in the heart of the phosphate plateau at approximately 150km from the Atltantic coastal zone in the North and 50 km from the Atlas Mountains in the South. This region is marked by a semi-arid climate and recognized by phosphate mining industry and various agricultural activities in the Tadla irrigated plain characterized as one of the most productive areas in the country.
The purpose of SWECS international conference is to provide a platform to share experiences and attract further partnerships among government, industry and academic institutions around soil, water, and Environment fields to address challenges, identify, highlight the needs to establish, preserve a healthy and sustainable environment for future generations, and initiate new partnerships for sustainable development.
